Waggonner & Ball

Identity, collateral & website

A uniquely American architecture firm specializing in designing for sustainable resilience in the face of environmental issues, Waggonner & Ball needed an identity that, like their solutions, would stand the test of time.

A custom version of Electra, perhaps the canonical American serif typeface, was modified with stencil cuts. Four variations in total with varying cut widths allow for a variety of applications from an architectural plan to scaffolding. To pair with this and in keeping with the founders’ pension for hand-drawn schematics during planning phases, Graebenbach, a sans with hints of brush stroke-like flares, and BC Reformulate, a one-of-a-kind monospaced script typeface were chosen for text and secondary levels, respectively.
