Curtain

Identity

An exhibition by Para Site in collaboration with Rockbund Art Museum, Curtain explores passageways and porous and imporous separations between individuals, cultures, and the arts.

For the identity of the exhibition, we explored an image strategy that would exemplify this, a layering of wholly distinct things — in particular, that of the mundane, material, everyday, and that of the fronter, be it technological or natural. This is paired with a unique vertically-oriented script typeface that pairs beauty with the unexpected, reflects the vertical possibilities within Chinese typography, and functions as a typographic curtain overlaid on the imagery.

This was my final project for Wkshps and Project Projects after six years of working together and displays all the inherent interests in that, and as such the work shown below isn’t reflective of any particular one final product, but I think reflects our collective ideas and the ideas inherent in our process as advocates for unconventional design solutions and more importantly, how that intersects with art institutions of various scales.
