Container Artist Residency put selected artists aboard commercial freight ships to make work and document their journeys along chosen routes. These were working ships. Founded by Maayan Strauss, the program provided cabin accommodation and studio space for up to three weeks, placing artists inside the routines of international trade.

Christopher Page turned some of his paintings into crates to accompany him across the Atlantic. The work had become its own packaging.

The website explained the program and doubled as a travelogue where the artists could post their experiences. Artist pages brought their work, routes, and dispatches together. Looping backgrounds of ocean currents and a video by Strauss kept it in motion. I got genuinely seasick coding it. The layout borrows from the stacking of cargo, and the long pages give the scroll bar some distance to cover, too.
